Family-run Baby Earth started life as two new parents, a computer, and a garage full of stuff. Incorporated in 2003 in Austin, Texas, Heather and James Bendle launched the company they called Baby-Wise while raising an 18-month-old daughter and expecting a second girl. James, a full-time financial services professional, took the night shift with their colicky baby and worked overtime helping set up the new business. The idea was to offer a store that had both the tried-and-true classic baby products available at big stores alongside the cool, new boutique products.

The inventory started with Heather's favorite items and quickly expanded to a warehouse—which they outgrew in less than a year. Baby-Wise customers wanted to come in and test the carseats and strollers, so the company opened a showroom in 2006. It quickly grew into a retail store to satisfy customer demand. Baby-Wise rebranded itself as BabyEarth in 2008 to reflect the Bendle family's growing desire to lead an eco-friendly life. ÒThe new name reflects our commitment to making baby's world as healthy, happy, and safe as possible,Ó says James.

BabyEarth now boasts one of the largest selections of eco-friendly baby products on the market.
